Kristen Mercredi

I was born and raised in Fort Good Hope, NWT, but I currently resides in Alberta. 

I was 16 years old when I became interested in sewing, I invested in my first sewing machine and learned traditional beadwork from my family. I began to learn how to make purses because what girls doesn't love a good purse.

I grew up with the best teachers. My mom (Mabel Tatchinron), granny (Rosie Grandjambe) they made sure I did my own beadwork designs. I was taught to produce good work as it represented our family. As for my Esa (Micheal Grandjambe- Grandpa), I remembered how much he took pride in his work creating snowshoes and traditional drums.

My grandparents played a huge role in my life, I love traditional artwork and I love the nature and all the beautiful colours. I make a variety of items like beaded hats, purses, custom fabric, and clothing.
